WCCTV Provides Mobile CCTV for Le Tour De France Grand Depart

As an estimated global audience of 3.5 billion people tuned in to see Yorkshire host Le Grand Depart of the 2014 Le Tour De France, those spectators who welcomed the riders at Leeds’ Harewood House experienced the professional on-site security provided by event organisers first-hand.

As part of the security measures designed to ensure the safety of the athletes and spectators, the organisers deployed a number of WCCTV’s mobile CCTV tower systems to complement their physical security.

“It’s with credit to the organisers that the event at Harewood House was incredibly well organised and passed without major incident. However, having CCTV on-site provided peace of mind for organisers, emergency services and to the general public, that, should an incident occur, footage would be readily and easily accessible” said WCCTV’s Managing Director David Gilbertson.

“WCCTV’s wireless surveillance systems allow users to access live and recorded footage via mobile networks such as 4G, 3G and GPRS on a range of mobile devices including smart phones, tablets and laptops, while digital evidential footage is also stored to the systems integral removable hard drive, allowing footage to be shared between the organisers and police as required.”

“The WCCTV tower can be powered by fuel cell technology, meaning it is a truly autonomous, rapidly deployable system that is installed and operational in a matter of minutes with enough power to last up to six weeks.”

“WCCTV are proud to have been involved in such a global event, and part of an event that will live long in the memory of those in Yorkshire” concluded David.
