Our Careers

Niamh Hamill

Joined WCCTV: 2020
Placement Role: Business Development Executive
Placement Role: Regional Account Manager

Why did you do a placement year?

I wanted to get real-life work experience, particularly in an environment that was fast-paced, and for a growing and ambitious company.

I knew it would look good on my CV, and also give me an idea of what types of work I did and didn't like before finishing my degree and planning for the future.

What are your main responsibilities?

I'm responsible for market research and business development. I identify new business opportunities for our site security services, and directly contact potential clients to book meetings for our Account Management team.

What are your day-to-day tasks?

My typical day involves hitting a number of key daily targets. This includes the number of calls made, and the number of appointments booked.

I find it really motivating as I have a clear picture every day of what success looks like, and i am supported in reaching these goals.

What did you enjoy most about your placement year?

I've really enjoyed building relationships with clients. I get to speak to different people all across the country every day, and assist in growing their interest in what WCCTV provides.

It's helped grow my confidence, my communication skills and improved my research abilities. I've learned a lot of valuable skills that will be handy in the future.

How did WCCTV support you as a placement student?

WCCTV has provided thorough training in every element of my role. They want you to be successful and have a clear plan for how they will help you grow and improve.

The management team are always available if I have any questions or concerns, and it genuinely feels like everyone wants you to do well, and is willing the take the time to help you learn.

Why did you choose WCCTV for your placement year?

I saw that WCCTV was a company that was growing rapidly, that the role would be hands-on, challenging and fast-paced - and that really appealed.

I also wanted to work for a company that invested in staff development, and I had seen WCCTV had recently received Investors in People - Gold status.

Would you recommend WCCTV to other students?

If you want to work in an environment that is fast-paced then definitely go for it. The reward will be personal development, and the company will invest in you and improve your skills and knowledge.
