Figures from the Office for National Statistics showed that UK construction output peaked at £15,053m in May 2022, the highest monthly figure since records began in 2010.The majority of the growth within the sector is attributable to new build projects in both the commercial and residential property sectors.
Speaking on the significance of these figures, our Sales Director Shea Nugent stated:
"The construction industry is, in many ways, bucking the economic trend across the UK. The sector is in rude health, particularly regarding new build and infrastructure projects".
"While this is incredibly positive news, we are duty bound to issue a note of caution regarding construction site security."
"Of course, with a higher output of projects, comes the increased risk of theft from sites, simply due to the proliferation of projects."
"But it's especially critical during these summer months, which is where we see particular spikes in opportunist theft due to the more favourable weather conditions. Even thieves don't like the rain."
