The product, which provides live transmission from the wearer’s location back to control rooms and mobile devices, was awarded a Security’s Best ASIS Accolade, Judge’s Choice for the best product and People’s Choice for the best product.
Wireless CCTV (WCCTV), the world-leading manufacturer of mobile video surveillance, site security solutions and body worn cameras, are delighted to announce the WCCTV Body Worn Camera (Connect) has been selected as the winner of three prestigious ASIS 2016 Accolades.
The Body Worn Camera (Connect) was awarded a Security’s Best ASIS Accolade, as well as winning both the Judge’s Choice for the best product and the People’s Choice for best product - making it a remarkable clean sweep.
ASIS Accolades recognises the most innovative new products, services and solutions featured at the ASIS International Annual Seminar and Exhibits (ASIS 2016), which took place Sept 12-15, 2016, in Orlando, Florida.
A team of judges representing experts in security technologies evaluated all Accolades entries and selected this year's winners. The judges determined that the WCCTV Body Worn Camera (Connect) was the most innovative entry and named it the Judge’s Choice Award Winner.
The WCCTV Body Worn Camera (Connect) delivers live transmission of video and audio on the move. It utilises cellular technology (4G LTE with automatic fallback) to transmit live video and GPS location information from the wearer's location back to control rooms and mobile devices, drastically improving situational awareness and safety.
Unlike other live transmission body worn cameras, the WCCTV Body Worn Camera (Connect) is a one-box unit with no external cables, wiring, battery packs or tethering.
It is an easy to use, compact and lightweight system ready to use with SIM card technology. This wholly unique innovation represents a major development for the Company and improves the overall effectiveness of Body Worn Video technology as a whole.
The judge’s opinions were echoed by the near 20,000 attendees to ASIS 2016, as the WCCTV Body Worn Camera (Connect) also received the most onsite votes to take the People’s Choice award.
Speaking on the product’s multiple awards, WCCTVs Managing Director David Gilbertson said:
“We’re delighted to have been recognised by both our peers within the security industry and by those who will make use of the product. It’s a testament to the Company’s ongoing product development and our commitment to driving innovation.
“The uptake of body worn cameras has been driven by the need to protect the wearer and the public by providing greater transparency over how incidents occur and have been dealt with.
“However, this has been purely retrospective, without the opportunity for intervention, advice or assistance for an officer in the field who is left to rely on his or her own best judgement until a review can take place.
“WCCTV’s Body Worn Camera (Connect) drastically improves security, safety and decision making for agents in the field and allows supervisors to coordinate tactical operations in real-time with eyes on the ground.
“This has multiple benefits including the potential to improve response time, improve judgment and decision making speed and quality, identify potential threats, help de-escalate confrontations and conflicts and allow the remote coordination of large-scale tactical operations.”
