Most security incidents begin with a perimeter breach. Whether it’s theft, vandalism, trespass or sabotage, the first step is usually unauthorised access. By the time it’s discovered, the damage is often already done.
Fencing and signage are not enough. Offenders target weak points, blind spots and remote entry routes, often using vehicles or tools to gain access.
On construction sites, they cut through fencing to steal materials. At utility substations or vacant buildings, they exploit isolation and time their activity to avoid detection.
Without active perimeter surveillance, teams are left responding to incidents instead of preventing them. By the time patrols arrive or the loss is noticed, intruders are gone and evidence is limited.
Perimeter protection is about visibility and control. Knowing when and where someone has entered your site gives you the opportunity to act before loss occurs, not just record what happened after the fact.
Your Virtual Fence Line
Effective perimeter protection starts with knowing what’s happening at your site boundaries. Mobile CCTV systems allow you to cover entry points, fencing lines and blind spots with systems that don’t rely on fixed power or infrastructure.
A visible camera presence acts as an immediate deterrent. For those who still attempt to gain access, systems record high-definition footage that can be used to track movements, identify individuals and support enforcement or legal action.
When live video monitoring is in place, incidents don’t go unnoticed. If motion is detected, trained operatives access the live feed in real time and follow a defined escalation path.
This means intrusions can be challenged and responded to as they happen, rather than discovered after the fact.
Whether protecting active sites, critical infrastructure or vacant properties, mobile CCTV puts control at the perimeter where it matters most.
Mobile CCTV Solutions to Secure Site Boundaries
Perimeter breaches are often the first step in a wider offence. WCCTV’s mobile surveillance systems are designed to detect, deter and document unauthorised access before it escalates.
With no need for fixed power, cabling or connectivity, our systems can be deployed wherever your site is vulnerable.
Our recommended systems for perimeter protection include:
Rapid Deployment Towers: Ideal for large, open or exposed perimeters, CCTV Towers provide high-visibility deterrence, complete site coverage, self-powered operation and HD video recording. Suitable for active construction sites, compounds and critical infrastructure.
Hornet Perimeter Detection Units: Built to monitor specific access points or fence lines, The Hornet combines video surveillance with motion detection, visual alerts and audible alarms to deter intruders and trigger rapid escalation when movement is detected.
All systems are available to rent or purchase, depending on your deployment needs.

Perimeter Protection That Keeps Projects on Track
As part of a major upgrade to the Wittering Water Recycling Centre, the Anglian Water @oneAlliance partnership required a security solution that could operate autonomously at a remote and critical site.
Having experienced issues on previous projects, the team needed a reliable system to protect the site perimeter, deter intruders and prevent disruption to their programme.
WCCTV deployed both an ECO Site Tower and a Solar Fuel Cell Tower, offering full 360° coverage, infrared detection, live video monitoring and audio deterrents, all without the need for mains power or diesel generators.
The result was a secure perimeter, no reported thefts or intrusions, and a project that remained on schedule without interruption.
“We tend to use WCCTV quite a bit. It’s been relatively straightforward and we haven’t had any break-ins or anything like that.” Mark Allen, Site Manager at Skanska (on behalf of @oneAlliance)

Where Should WCCTV Cameras Be Positioned for Perimeter Protection?
Our systems are commonly placed at site entrances, fence lines, blind spots and storage zones or wherever unauthorised access is most likely to occur.
Can the Systems Operate Without Power or Internet?
Yes. All WCCTV systems are self-powered and connect over 4G, making them ideal for remote or undeveloped sites without fixed infrastructure.
How Does Live Monitoring Work for Perimeter Security?
If motion is detected, trained operators access the live feed in real time. If the activity is suspicious, they follow an agreed escalation process to alert site contacts or emergency services.
Can WCCTV Systems Be Moved to New Locations if Site Layout Changes?
Yes. All units are fully portable and can be repositioned at any time to adapt to changing risk areas or access routes.
