Trusted by Rail Contractors Across the UK
WCCTV provides high-quality time lapse video for a wide range of rail works, including upgrades to infrastructure, trackside improvements, bridge replacements and station developments.
Our services are fully managed and tailored to meet the safety, access and documentation needs of work in this sector.
We offer fixed time lapse cameras or integrate them with our solar-powered CCTV Towers for autonomous operation in remote areas.
Our experienced team will identify the best camera positions to capture your project from start to finish, and our editors will produce professionally cut films that showcase the scale, pace and results of your works.
Whether you’re working on behalf of Network Rail or a principal contractor, we ensure your time lapse service meets all relevant safety requirements, with CSCS and PTS-accredited crews and experience working trackside.
End-to-End Delivery by a Rail-Safe Team
Every rail project has its own safety requirements, access challenges and site-specific constraints. That’s why WCCTV provides a fully managed time lapse service that covers:
Pre-Deployment Planning: We complete a full site survey to assess power availability, access, and the best positioning for visual coverage.
RAMS and Safety Compliance: Before we arrive on site, we’ll submit RAMS for approval. All engineers are PTS accredited, and experienced in working trackside.
Camera Installation: We install fixed cameras or mount them to our solar-powered CCTV Towers, providing a solution for remote rail sites without power.
Live Viewing Platform: You will have access to a secure online portal to view images, download footage and monitor progress.
Editing and Progress Videos: Our in-house editors create monthly or quarterly update videos as well as a full project film at completion.
Ongoing Monitoring: All systems are monitored by our support team, with remote diagnostics and on-site servicing provided if needed.
Decommissioning: Once works are complete, we’ll safely remove the equipment and return the footage to you for archiving or sharing with stakeholders.
Time lapse shouldn’t add complexity to your project. We make the process simple, safe and fully aligned to rail industry standards.

Ongoing Project Benefits
Time lapse video is a powerful tool for rail infrastructure projects. It documents each stage of work, supports stakeholder communications, and captures progress in a compelling visual format.
Whether you're upgrading lines, building new stations or replacing assets, time lapse gives you a continuous visual record from start to finish.
The footage can be used to:
Show delivery to clients, funders or regulators
Produce project case studies or marketing content
Monitor progress on long-term projects remotely
Evidence delivery during possession works or weekend shutdowns
Share updates with the public or internal teams
Time lapse gives rail contractors the visibility and documentation needed on complex, high-stakes work.
Capturing a Once-in-a-Generation Upgrade
WCCTV supported Network Rail and Morgan Sindall during a major infrastructure upgrade at King’s Cross Station. The project involved the complete removal and replacement of all four tracks into the station, marking the first time in 40 years this level of work had been undertaken.
WCCTV deployed three 4K time lapse cameras, positioned to provide full visibility of key work areas to produce a visual record of the project and promote the engineering achievement across internal and external platforms.
The video footage was also used to:
Monitor works in real time during possession periods
Evidence safe working practices
Reduce the need for site visits during COVID restrictions
Share progress with stakeholders and the public
The finished time lapse was published on both companies' websites and social channels, generating thousands of views, high engagement and coverage in key industry media.

How Does WCCTV’s Time Lapse Service Work on Rail Projects?
We handle everything from site surveys and installation to editing and delivery. Cameras can be mounted on autonomous towers or fixed positions depending on your site. You’ll receive regular video updates and a final edited time lapse at the end of the project.
Can You Install Cameras Trackside?
Yes. We’re RISQS-audited and our engineers are PTS-accredited, meaning we’re approved to work in live rail environments. Our equipment is also suitable for remote or off-grid locations.
What if There’s No Power on Site?
No problem. Our systems can be deployed using solar and fuel cell power, completely independent of site power or internet.
Can You Combine Time Lapse with Security?
Yes. Many clients combine time lapse with our CCTV solutions using the same tower. This allows you to protect the site and capture key milestones using a single supplier.
How Long Can a Time Lapse Camera Stay in Place?
Our systems are designed for long-term deployment. Whether your project runs for a few weeks or over a year, we’ll make sure the system is operating reliably throughout.
