An Ongoing Challenge for Local Services
Anti-social behaviour is one of the most common complaints received by local authorities, housing associations and police forces.
It takes many forms, from vandalism, intimidation and verbal abuse to drug-related activity, loitering and noise disturbances and often escalates when left unchecked.
The impact is serious. ASB creates fear, affects wellbeing and undermines public trust. For housing providers, it disrupts tenancy agreements and damages property.
For councils, it triggers repeated service calls and requires close coordination between community safety teams, enforcement officers and local police.
Responding to ASB is time-consuming and resource-heavy, especially when offences occur in public spaces, housing estates or parks where gathering usable evidence is difficult.
Without clear footage or reliable witness testimony, investigations stall and incidents go unresolved.
Control ASB With Visible Deterents
Anti-social behaviour creates fear, damages property and puts frontline teams under pressure. It can flare up without warning, escalate quickly and move from location to location, making it difficult to contain.
Traditional methods such as patrols, warning letters or resident reports are often reactive and inconsistent.
Deploying mobile CCTV cameras brings visibility to problem areas. A visible camera presence deters many offenders, particularly in high-footfall zones where groups gather.
Where incidents continue, cameras provide the visual evidence needed to take meaningful action, whether that means tenancy enforcement, police intervention or targeted outreach.
Systems can be installed with no infrastructure, moved between estates or parks as needed and accessed remotely by authorised teams.
Footage helps establish patterns of behaviour, identify repeat offenders and provide clear accountability, reducing the burden on stretched services and increasing public confidence.
WCCTV Cameras Designed to Tackle Anti-Social Behaviour
Anti-social behaviour takes place in public spaces, housing estates and transport hubs where infrastructure is limited and threats can escalate quickly. WCCTV’s mobile CCTV systems are designed for these environments, offering rapid deployment, reliable evidence capture and high visibility deterrence.
Our recommended systems for tackling ASB include:
Redeployable CCTV Cameras: Suited to streets, parks and shared spaces, Redeployable CCTV cameras install quickly to existing infrastructure, deliver HD video and connect via 4G/5G. They can be moved between sites as priorities change.
Solar CCTV Trailer: For larger, open areas or places without lighting or power, the Solar CCTV Trailer provides fully autonomous operation. Its overt design offers strong visual deterrence, particularly in locations with repeat incidents.
Body Cameras: Worn by enforcement officers or housing staff, Body Cameras capture first-person video evidence during interactions. They support lone working, help de-escalate situations and provide accountability for all parties involved.
All systems are available to rent or purchase, depending on your operational needs.

Targeted Surveillance, Measurable Impact
Newton Aycliffe was experiencing ongoing issues with anti-social behaviour, with some areas of the town being described as ‘no-go’ zones.
To address the problem, Durham Constabulary’s Neighbourhood Policing Team installed five Redeployable CCTV cameras at key locations.
The systems offered rapid surveillance coverage, combining infrared PTZ functionality, local video recording (up to 4TB) and 4G connectivity in a single, compact unit. Their visible presence helped deter further incidents, while recorded footage supported investigations and enforcement activity.
The initiative led to a 50% drop in reported crime across the area. The success prompted further investment in additional cameras, supported by funding from the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership.
“I am delighted to see excellent partnership working and cooperation delivering such positive results. These new cameras will undoubtedly make the communities of Newton Aycliffe safer and more secure.” Joy Allen, Durham Police and Crime Commissioner
