Compact. Reactive. Ready to Deploy.
The WCCTV Hornet is a compact Perimeter Intrusion Detection (PID) system designed to secure sites where space, access or infrastructure is limited.
The units have been designed to work alongside our CCTV Tower systems by providing additional coverage and detection of blind spots, perimeters or compound areas where standard CCTV detection can fail to see.
It delivers full 360° coverage using four integrated cameras, combined with passive infrared (PIR) detection, powerful audio deterrents and high-intensity visual alarms.
When motion is detected, the Hornet records a short video clip, stores the footage locally or in the cloud, and triggers visible and audible alerts to deter intruders immediately.
Fully autonomous, it operates without mains power or internet access, making it ideal for temporary works, internal projects or restricted compounds.
With easy installation, portability and anti-tamper protection, the Hornet is a robust companion to our CCTV Towers.
Deployed in Minutes. Active for Months.
The Hornet can be installed in minutes, offering immediate protection for sites that need urgent coverage or flexible setup. It’s ideal for securing blind spots, walkways, compounds or areas outside the reach of a tower.
A bright red casing, flashing strobe light and instant audio warnings provide a clear visible and audible deterrent to intruders. The Hornet helps stop threats before they escalate.
Each Hornet camera includes an individual power source, supported by a shared battery and solar charging system. There’s no need for hardwired power or constant refuelling.
Operators can issue live voice challenges to deter intruders. If site staff need support, they can also speak back to the monitoring centre using the integrated audio system.
The Hornet records in Full HD and transmits video at a frame rate five times higher than many comparable systems. This provides smoother playback and clearer evidence.
Each camera has its own SIM and uploads footage to the cloud independently. This allows for multiple simultaneous connections without dependency on a central recorder.
While designed to be sturdy and tamper-resistant, the Hornet remains portable. It can be moved across a site or between locations as your security needs evolve.
If the Hornet is moved, covered or tampered with, an alert is immediately raised with the monitoring team, triggering a live check-in and escalation if needed.
Clips are stored locally on encrypted SD cards with optional cloud upload for evidential retrieval and audit trails. All incident footage can also be managed by our NSI Gold accredited monitoring team, who can handle all incidents.
From deployment and configuration to monitoring and maintenance, the Hornet is part of WCCTV’s end-to-end service - keeping your focus on the project, not the protection.
The Hornet works seamlessly with WCCTV’s NSI Gold accredited monitoring partners. It can also integrate with most industry-standard control rooms for a complete managed service.

The Hornet is a flexible, scalable solution for protecting site perimeters and blind spots, delivering fast deployment, autonomous operation and effective deterrence.
Supplementing Coverage Where It Matters Most
The Hornet is designed for perimeter security where traditional cameras can’t be installed. It’s ideal for sites with blind spots, difficult terrain, restricted access or changing layouts.
It’s best suited to:
Construction and Infrastructure Contractors: Who need additional coverage for compound edges, temporary access points or materials stored away from main tower coverage.
Demolition: Operating on rapidly evolving sites where the layout changes day to day and coverage needs to adapt without calling in engineers.
Critical Infrastructure: Securing utility sites, substations or remote assets where intruder detection is essential but cabling or fixed infrastructure isn’t viable.
Vacant Property and Asset Managers: Looking for fast deployment systems to secure vulnerable entrances, isolated perimeters or fly-tipping hotspots.
Rail Infrastructure: Easy-to-move system to monitor temporary worksites, storage zones or compound boundaries.
The Hornet can be deployed as a standalone deterrent or as a supplementary unit to WCCTV’s tower range, helping you close gaps and secure every angle.
Trusted Detection Across Every Environment
The Hornet is used to strengthen coverage around site boundaries, compounds and temporary access points, especially where layout changes or blind spots exist.
Provides rapid, flexible coverage for ever-changing demolition sites without the need for fixed infrastructure or wired power.
Secures substations, pumping stations and remote utility sites by detecting intruders before they reach valuable assets.
Protects vulnerable buildings and land by detecting unauthorised access, fly-tipping or suspicious movement on approach.
Monitors trackside compounds and access routes where installation of fixed towers isn’t viable or needed.
Detection Is Just the Start
The Hornet doesn’t just detect perimeter breaches; it ensures there’s a real response. When its onboard PIR sensors are triggered, the system captures a short video clip and immediately transmits an alert to WCCTV’s NSI Gold Accredited monitoring partners.
From there, trained operatives:
Review the video footage in real time
Issue a live audio challenge to deter the intruder
Escalate to keyholders or emergency services if needed
The Hornet’s mobile connectivity means there’s no need for site internet, and its cloud-based platform ensures evidential footage is securely stored and accessible. Anti-tamper alarms and heartbeat diagnostics provide extra reassurance that your system is online, armed and ready.
Combined with WCCTV’s nationwide keyholding network, the Hornet delivers complete intrusion detection and response without needing any on-site resources.

What Is the Hornet PID System?
The Hornet PID System is a portable intrusion detection solution that uses infrared sensors to detect motion along a perimeter. It is typically deployed to support WCCTV Towers by covering blind spots or vulnerable zones.
How Does the Hornet Detect Intrusions?
The Hornet uses passive infrared (PIR) sensors to detect heat and motion within a specified range. When triggered, it sends an alert directly to our monitoring partners for live review and escalation.
Does the Hornet Require a Power Source?
The Hornet is solar-powered with battery backup. It can run independently for the entire duration of your project without any need for intervention or recharge.
Can the Hornet Be Used Indoors?
Yes. While primarily used outdoors, the Hornet can be installed inside large vacant properties or warehouses to detect motion in areas that are otherwise out of camera view.
What Happens When the Hornet Is Triggered?
When motion is detected, the hornet immediately issues an audio warning and strobe lighting sequence. An alert is sent to WCCTV’s NSI Gold-accredited monitoring partners. A live operator immediately dials into the associated cameras, assesses the threat and issues an audio challenge or escalates if needed.
